Welcome to another Casper Developer Community Call recap! We're thrilled to bring you the latest highlights from the recent Casper Developer Community Call. This recap will provide you with the condensed version of the most important developments and updates that are worth exploring by developers.
This article is intended for those who missed or would like to revisit the call to provide them with the latest updates on Casper.
You can access recordings of all past calls in our Discord under the call archive section.
We also recommend signing up for our biweekly newsletter to receive early updates and stay up to date.
Casper Association Board Member Ralf Kubli has given us a quick run-through on some of the exciting developments on Casper:
Casper Developer Portal is well underway and will be released on time. We are looking forward to making it available in late March.
Casper Labs and Google Cloud have announced an extended collaboration that will allow developers and customers to build on a proven cloud provider that enables thousands of enterprises every day.
Michael Steuer, the CTO of MAKE, provided a comprehensive explanation and live demonstration of the highly-anticipated Casper Wallet. We highly recommend watching it. Here!
As the successor to Casper Signer, Casper Wallet will offer all the features of its predecessor while also introducing several improvements, including a better user interface, enhanced user experience, complete desktop browser support, future mobile compatibility, and more.
Michael has stated the open beta will begin on March 13. He also shared that the security audit has been completed by Halborn- a blockchain security firm. The audit report will be shared alongside the source code upon release.
“Most wallet extensions focus on Chromium-based browsers despite the fact that many developers use Mac. Casper Wallet will come with Safari support. This is especially important for enterprise-level because their employees are forced to use a single browser.” said Michael.
“In Casper wallet, we're giving the user granular control over their privacy. So, basically which data the dApp has access to or knows about will be controlled by the user,” explained Michael.
Don’t forget to watch Michael’s presentation for more information. You can also join the Casper Wallet Developer Telegram channel by scanning the QR Code below. The channel is more suited to developers and those who are interested in Casper Wallet on a technical level. For non-developers interested in Casper Wallet and want to get regular updates, the Casper Wallet Twitter account has got you covered.
Dozens of Casper dApps will support Casper Wallet upon release. To make the implementation of Casper Wallet simpler for all types of web apps, MAKE has developed a playground for developers that allows them to easily test their Casper Wallet integration. The playground also serves as a reference implementation of how to integrate and interact with the Casper Wallet.
As you connect with the playground, you will have access to all the events that the Casper Wallet generates.
Additionally, a Casper Wallet SDK to simplify the integration of Casper Wallet with web apps is also available on GitHub.

Program Director Piotr Dziubecki filled us in about 1.4.13 upgrade: “We are now staging the release of 1.4.13 on mainnet. More than 80% of the nodes have already staged the upgrade. The same version has already been tested on the testnet and we are confident that everything will go smoothly.”
You can check out the Technical Release Memo for more information.
For this upgrade to protocol version 1.4.13, the activation point is Era 8396, which will be approximately around:
2023-03-02 13:42 UTC

Stay tuned for new upgrades, including Casper 1.5, 1.6 and the much anticipated 2.0.
Q: How stable is the Casper Wallet beta?
A: We have a QA team and lots of developers that test the wallet every day and that certainly helps us improve it and produce a stable product. Private beta also helped us a lot and we are looking forward to hearing the feedback from a wider community during open beta as well. Naturally, we encountered some unexpected variables, which are very common in software development. Upon the completion of the open beta and toward the MVP launch, we expect Casper Wallet to be maximally stable.
Q: Does it work on Casper testnet and mainnet?
A: It works on Casper testnet and mainnet. Because Casper Wallet does more than Casper Signer, it must be aware of what network it is working on. One of the things we are building is a network switcher, sort of akin to what users are familiar with on MetaMask. Developers and enterprises run on testnets, local machines, hybrid networks, and private networks. Those will be accessible through that switcher interface.
Q: Is the Casper Wallet going to have Ledger hardware wallet support?
A: The wallet will be able to proxy your Ledger, so you can connect your Ledger to the wallet. When you need to approve a signing request, you need to log in to your Ledger.
Q: We saw your presentation in Davos where you talked about a suite of tools within the Casper ecosystem. Can you explain what kind of a part the unique suite of tools plays in the development of the solutions on Casper?
A: The philosophy we have about mainstream adoption requires a number of things. Ease-of-use and convenience, focus on UI and UX, engagement tools such as notifications, integration, and a captive ecosystem…
We already talked about Casper Wallet and its functionality.
CSPR Studio allows the creation and management of NFT collections on Casper with unmatched ease of use.
CSPR Cloud underpins a lot of things we do. It’s the middleware platform that is already being used by many dApps, exchanges, wallets, and other ecosystem participants.
Casper Click enables any developer to easily integrate with all of the underlying wallets in the Casper ecosystem while allowing users to easily move around in the ecosystem, even when switching between dApps that support different wallets.
We aim to empower developers to build decentralized applications, reach out to a broader audience, and enhance user engagement, all within a single ecosystem. Currently, the blockchain industry is fragmented, hindering the delivery of a seamless and polished user experience. Our tools seek to unify the blockchain world and bridge this gap by providing a streamlined experience for users and developers alike.
