Here we are with another insightful community call recap! Hosted by Joe Benso – Director of Communications for the Casper Association, the community call took place in our Discord channel on September 6, 2022.
We prepared this article for those who missed the call to provide you with the latest updates on Casper and share some insight
Before we begin, make sure to join our Discord channel to never miss an important update about Casper.
The Casper Association’s mission is to support and expand the Casper ecosystem. To this end, the Casper Association has been staking and will continue staking the CSPR held on its balance sheet on an ongoing basis.
To assist the growth of Casper Ecosystem, Casper Association will un-delegate and re-delegate substantial amounts of tokens from its treasury to its broader validator set. There haven't been a lot of reallocations on the staging side, but new developments will happen in the next several weeks.
For more information on Casper Association’s CSPR staking, see our blog post.
Our core layer 1 team is working hard to release the 1.5 update as soon as possible and there is no higher priority for us at the moment.
Co-founder and CTO of CasperLabs, Medha Parlikar has announced that soon the release on mainnet will be ready and that she hopes to announce the deployment date in the next community call. The 1.5 release will entail a set of improvements that will make the Casper blockchain more robust and faster.
Stay tuned for the latest developments in 1.5 release as we will be sharing the details soon.
With respect to NFTs, there is some exciting news. The Casper NFT standard, CEP-78 went live earlier this month!
Currently, we are addressing the community’s feedback on the new CEP and we aim to offer new enhancements to our CEPs every month.
CEP-78 provides superior scalability, support, efficient tools, and wider documentation to manage, own, and trade unique tokens on the Casper Blockchain.
CEP-78 includes:
In addition to that, CEP-78 v1.1 version which is expected to be released in 6 weeks, will feature
royalties, allowing creators to receive a royalty each time their NFTs are sold after the initial sale.

Casper Association Board Member Ralf Kubli gave the latest updates on Casper’s DeFi ecosystem.
“Casper Association continues to work with Ferrum Network on providing infrastructure that makes bridges more trustworthy. We will make more liquidity options available through a well-audited
infrastructure,” said Ralf Kubli.
“Our goal is to roll that out in the next six to eight weeks, first in alpha, then in beta, then in environments where the bridge can be tested and also used by other projects that have already built their environments” he added.
“We are working on providing some updates on Casper Punks. We are aware that our community has been expecting additional utility earlier. However, we didn't give a timeline because we would like to make sure the new utilities we will be introducing work well with the new NFT standard, CEP-78.”
Ever-growing Casper ecosystem currently consists of 143 partners including DeFi projects building on Casper.

Casper assumes the role of infrastructure provider for businesses to build on and to provide a delightful end-user experience so that those businesses can attract customers onto their platform.
The way to achieve this starts with a flawless wallet infrastructure. Without a solid wallet infrastructure, businesses will not be able to offer a good user experience, generate revenue on the blockchain, or monetize their product offerings.
We have already built a strong wallet infrastructure into our ecosystem with Casper Signer, Ledger, Torus currently integrated, and Gosuto which will be launching in a few weeks. MatterFi Software wallets are also going to be launched shortly.
Any entrepreneur building something that is real, tangible, and valuable needs the technology
infrastructure to bring their offerings to their customers to achieve sustained growth.
Casper provides support services to businesses looking to build on Casper. Our support team is ready to assist them on Discord and Telegram.
To further support all businesses planning to build on Casper, we will hold workshops where our core
developers will be accessible.
Casper’s focus on enterprise adoption doesn’t make it exclusively for enterprises. Casper Labs steps in to support enterprises adopting blockchain technology and it is true that Casper Network has unique features that make it the standout choice for enterprises.
It doesn't matter if it's on a decentralized public blockchain or not, an enterprise needs technical support when venturing into a new realm. But Casper blockchain provides the underlying infrastructure for developers and entrepreneurs as well, not just large enterprises. Anyone that is serious about building a real business, serving real customers, and utilizing blockchain technology is welcome here at Casper.
The goal of Casper is to provide great software that can be used by anyone and deployed by people that want to build real software and real solutions on top of the Casper blockchain.
Additionally, soon, any validator will be able to become a member of the Casper Association and
participate in its governance.
Prioritizing transparency above all else, Casper has the utmost respect for different ideas as long as they are relevant and are not ill-intentioned.
There are clearly communicated rules in official Casper channels, including the inability to engage in price discussions due to regulatory rules. To maintain healthy communication in Casper’s official channels, our community managers are authorized to ban participants who have been engaging in such discussions repeatedly.
By no means are these bans without reason as our community managers are required to keep track of such activities and they have to justify when and why they are banning individuals.
Casper Association Board Member Ralf Kubli makes it clear that each and every ban that took place is
documented along with warnings.
No. We believe we launched exactly at the right time. Here is why:
Blockchains must stand the test of time. It is no surprise that Bitcoin is considered the most trusted
blockchain. It is considered so because Bitcoin has been around the longest.
Building a non-EVM layer 1 chain takes a lot of time and testing. While using EVM has some advantages like free exchange integrations and wallet integrations, it is not suitable for enterprise use. Instead of using EVM and placing Casper consensus on top of it, we decided to build a bespoke Virtual Machine because we believe that enterprises need features that Ethereum cannot provide.
Building our own custody integrations and wallet integrations requires a lot of engineering. Since our foundation, we have upgraded the protocol several times. Because we believe blockchain is not a boombust, therefore we don’t treat it so. Blockchain adoption requires, sustainable, consistent usage and it thrives with a community that understands and believes in the project.

Barry Watkins– Project Manager and External Communications Director of DEVxDAO has joined Joe
Benso to fill us in on the DEVxDAO grants.
DEVxDAO looks to fund high-value grants that are beneficial to the Casper community with the purpose of increasing activity on the chain. It is not just focused on Casper, but also on open-source projects, including Casper, that aim to create real solutions for the community.
If DEVxDAO feels that a project is absolutely critical to the community, it presents that particular grant application to Casper for their consideration to funding the project immediately.
Here is an overview of how the regular process works:
1- Attestation: a certain number of members of the DAO must read and attest to the fact that they've read the grant application.
2- Informal vote: The informal vote is to get the voting associates’ opinions on the application. Those associates will be ultimately voting on the project. The exchange of ideas takes place during this phase. This PDF document was created with CKEditor and can be used for evaluation purposes only.
3- Formal vote: Members stake tokens to vote and at the end of the process, the vote result will either be passed or failed.
