No time to lose, let’s dive in.

Updates from the Casper Association: Core, Ecosystem, and Partnerships

Michael Steuer, CTO and President of the Casper Association, kicked off the September X Space with a packed agenda and updates. Casper CEO Matt Schaffnit was unable to attend due to meetings at Token2049 in Singapore.

Casper 2.0.4 Upgrade and Casper 2.1 on the Horizon

The Casper mainnet upgrade to Casper 2.0.4 is scheduled to go live on October 1st. The release includes improvements to contract versioning and call behavior, and sets the stage for the next major upgrade, Casper 2.1.

Earlier in September, Casper’s core engineering team met in Wroclaw, Poland, to finalize Casper 2.1. The upcoming release will introduce a multi-VM architecture, allowing the new virtual machine to run alongside the existing one.

“Casper remains one of the first Layer 1s to support this natively,” reminded Michael.

Ecosystem Tools and Products

A flurry of new product launches and enhancements came over the summer:

CSPR.name, Casper’s native web3 domain service, now supports subdomains (e.g., michael.loves.cspr). A secondary market for domain trading is coming soon via CSPR.market.

CSPR.fun, a fungible token launchpad from FriendlyMarket, has successfully onboarded its first community token, Caspy, which now features NFTs, a game, and more.

The Americorp partnership continues progressing toward an MVP that aims to bring the $144B U.S. parking industry on-chain this quarter.

CSPR.shopping added major retailers like Adidas, Nike, Vans, Groupon, and Lego, offering CSPR cashback via Casper Wallet.

Odra launched Styks, a native on-chain oracle that feeds CSPR exchange rates to dApps, leveraging the new Attestation Service from Blocky, which uses TEEs to verify off-chain data before pushing it on-chain. Developers can now access any external API securely via Blocky. Learn more about the Blocky partnership here.

Two new standards were finalized: CEP-95, which enhances NFT compatibility and performance (already adopted by major ecosystem tools), and CEP-96, enabling better contract metadata visibility across the network.

Product Enhancements Across the CSPR Suite

The MAKE team and other contributors made significant upgrades across Casper’s product stack:

CSPR.live now supports fungible token market data via CoinGecko and Friendly Market, accessibility scores improved to 96/100, and an account/homepage redesign is in progress. New features coming include burned CSPR tracking and purse identification.

Casper Wallet is finalizing WalletConnect integration and an updated CSPR.shopping flow, with Ledger support for mobile expected next.

CSPR.cloud will soon roll out API updates to support the upcoming CSPR.live changes, better identify WASM transactions, and improve NFT previews. DEX price feeds are on the roadmap.

CSPR.click added better account data, CSPR.name support, and is working on WalletConnect integration and social login options in its SDK.

CSPR.market is integrating CEP-95 and finalizing secondary market support for CSPR.name. Transaction flows will benefit from websocket-based notifications introduced in CSPR.click.

New Exchange Listings and Partnerships

Casper expanded its global reach with three new listings:

Gate.US has listed CSPR, improving access for U.S.-based users.

CoinUp, a major exchange in Asia, will list CSPR in the coming weeks.

ChangeHero recently added support for CSPR, reaching a global user base.

On the technical partnership front:

Blocky now enables secure off-chain data to be verified and used on-chain.

NowNodes added Casper to its infrastructure platform, allowing for one-click validator setup and node hosting.

The Casper Association also selected a grant recipient to build a Casper-native lottery dApp using fully built smart contracts and interfaces.

Security partner Halborn continued auditing Casper applications over the summer, including contracts for CSPR.fun, CSPR.name, CEP-95, and Wise Lending’s RWA Vaults.

Community and Governance

Michael wrapped his update with a strong message to the community. Two major governance proposals were recently passed:

  • Gas fee burning activation (Vote #005) passed with 95% validator approval.

  • A minimum validator fee requirement (Vote #006) passed with 92% approval.

Michael reminded users that validators represent them in governance and encouraged delegators to voice their opinions in the Casper Forum. For vote tracking, he recommended eraguardian.com, a community-built governance dashboard.

Several community initiatives are underway:

New community managers are being hired. Apply here.

A new Ambassador Program will reward community-created content (including tutorials, comics, and memes).

CSPR.fans is transforming into a community-driven dApp. Michael explained:

“Users can propose and vote on new applications to drive the future of the Casper blockchain, propose ideas for dApps, and vote for the best applications that will enter our upcoming Hackathon.”

Yes, we are going to launch a Hackathon for developers to build on Casper. We will be working with a network of tens of thousands of Web3 developers worldwide to attract a substantial number of them to our ecosystem, and will rely on the community, via CSPR.fans, to help decide which projects and development teams move on to the next phases in the hackathon, and ultimately help decide who wins.”

Liquid Staking Beta Goes Live: Wise Lending’s Launch Announcement

One of the most anticipated milestones in Casper’s roadmap has officially arrived. Peter Girr, co-founder of Wise Lending, joined the X Space to announce that the Liquid Staking Beta is now live on the Casper mainnet as of September 30, 2025.

Wise Lending is a decentralized finance (DeFi) platform focused on building responsible and risk-aware lending primitives. Their latest product on Casper introduces a native liquid staking solution.

Peter confirmed that the beta version of liquid staking is publicly available for users to try out.

Peter emphasized that this is a beta release, and Wise Lending is actively gathering user feedback before moving toward a full production launch.

The Casper Association and Wise Lending are jointly encouraging the community to test the platform and report any bugs or UX improvements via the official feedback form.

Under the Hood of Liquid Staking on Casper

Michael and Peter took time to explain the mechanics behind the product and what makes it unique on Casper. Unlike many protocols that rely on intermediaries or custodians, liquid staking on Casper is built on fully native smart contracts without any external dependencies.

The system allows users to delegate CSPR to a validator through a contract interface. In return, they receive sCSPR, a liquid token that represents their staked position, which can be used in other smart contracts and DeFi primitives, while continuing to earn staking rewards in the background.

Peter noted that the contracts are audited, and the solution leverages Casper 2.0’s new capabilities, particularly the enhanced contract staking APIs. The entire delegation and unstaking logic is encoded within the smart contract itself, leveraging protocol-native functionality, minimizing trust assumptions.

This structure enables powerful new use cases:

  • DeFi protocols can now build features like yield farming, collateralized lending, or auto-compounding directly on top of sCSPR.

  • Applications holding CSPR (e.g., treasuries or DAOs) can keep their tokens productive by staking them in the background.

  • Future integrations may include DEX support, flash loans, and staking-as-a-service offerings.

Michael added that this was one of the most important features unlocked by Casper 2.0: “It fundamentally expands the capital efficiency of staking on Casper. Builders can now integrate staking logic into their applications without forcing users to choose between utility and yield.”

Peter highlighted the flexibility liquid staking gives both users and developers. “It’s no longer either-or. You can build richer user experiences without sacrificing the benefits of staking,” he said.

In addition to launching Liquid Staking, Peter confirmed that Wise Lending is preparing to bring RWA Vaults to Casper, designed to deliver up to 20% APY on stablecoin deposits. The underlying smart contracts have recently been audited by Halborn Security, and the final report is expected within the next one to two weeks.

Michael noted that supporting the success of RWA Vaults is a key priority for the Casper Association, especially in terms of improving bridging infrastructure and expanding stablecoin access. More roadmap details from Wise Lending are expected soon.

See you at the next X Space in October! Meanwhile, explore liquid staking beta and stay tuned for more exciting developments and updates from the Casper ecosystem!
